1st LA 2020 Convention Car Revealed

Collectors Events Unlimited (CEU) just revealed the first convention car for the LA 2020 Convention.

The ‘41 Willy’s Gasser - Limited to 6700 pieces.

The ‘41 Willys Gasser was redesigned in 2019 by BrendanVetusky and retooled to have the opening hood. It was based off of the ‘41 Willys which was designed in 2009 by Larry Wood. In 2012, the ‘41 Willys was a treasure hunt.

The retooled ‘41 Willys Gasser was available to RLC members in 2019 as an RLC exclusive in an orange color.

Tough to see what the final verdict will be. We have heard some collectors who love it, but the majority seem a bit disappointed because this is was voted as the RLC sELECTIONS car for 2021... and barely beat the Lamborghini. Some may ask, if the Lambo won, would we have seen the Lambo as a convention car? Maybe, but most of these are produced well in advance. So for the October convention, the cars should have been decided on and produced months ago.

Also, many collectors are upset at the 6700 piece production run. The 2020 Charlotte Convention had a production run of 6000 pieces, which also was considered high.

The next question is will the convention actually be held? Hard to tell but the Covid pandemic has hit California hard and there is no word on allowing organized events anytime in the distant future. In addition, what will the convention look like? Obviously masks will be required, but will the hotel even allow door to door sales with rooms wide open? Only time will tell.
