The next premium diorama set, Dash Code E is the first for 2021 and has started to hit Malaysia.
It should be in the US very soon, but the question is... will collectors want this $25 set? The diorama set started off great but sales have definitely gone down as we see these sitting on shelves.
From a price point of view, you get 3 premium cars and a transporter. Typically one Team Transport set is $13 and adding in 2 more premium cars at $5.50 each puts you at $24. These are priced at Walmart for $25, which puts it right there for a regular price point. Maybe collectors want a better value or maybe collectors are just not happy with all the cars in the sets? In the last set, most people I know only cared for the 917K, but you can't just get that by itself.
The cars in the this mix are:
'70 Dodge Hemi Challenger
'65 Mustang 2+2 Fastback
'70 Camaro
Retro Rig
'70 Dodge Hemi Challenger
The '70 Dodge Hemi Challenger was originally designed by Phil Riehlman in 2006. It was a convention car in 2007. In 2011 it was in the Vintage racing series in a really cool red white and blue livery. It was also made 2 more times for the 2011 Vintage racing series. The most popular is Sam Posey version but this one has a modified front splitter.
'65 Mustang 2+2 Fastback
This car looks great and it was a super treasure hunt in 2015. It was also in the 2012 Hot Wheels Racing Muscle set.
'70 Camaro
The '70 Camaro has 2 versions, the RR and the RS. This is the RR which stands for Road Race and you can tell by the front hood. This was a Super Treasure Hunt in 2012 and I believe this is the first time we have seen it as a premium.
Retro Rig
The Retro Rig was designed by Mark Jones and we first saw it in 2018 in the Team Transport Mix that had the Snake and Mongoose cars.
