Japanese Classics Set

Japanese Classics Set

This is another great multipack that is coming from Hot Wheels. We first saw a preview of this at the 2021 LA convention in October and now it has made it to retailers.
The set is composed of 6 cars, all of which are Japanese Classics and ones that collectors will like.

Watch Matthew's video and you will see that the box is smaller than the 9-packs and a bit flimsy. Overall though for collectors it is a a must have.

Here is the breakdown of the contents:

’88 Honda CR-X

This car was designed by Ryu Asada in 2019 and has been a fan favorite. It made its first appearance as a mainline in the 2019 Nightburnerz mix and this is the seventh time we have seen it.

This CR-X was a Super Treasure hunt in 2020 in white with red wheels.  We have never seen it as a premium. I am sure that this will eventually make it to the premium line.

’95 Mazda RX-7

This RX-7 was designed by Jun Imai in 2017. Since then we have seen it many times and it was even been a Walmart Zamac Exclusive.

In 2021, it was a Super Treasure Hunt in a spectraflame black color with real rider 6 spoke wheels.

We have seen it as a premium 4 times and 3 of those were Fast & Furious mixes.

Mitsubishi 2008 Lancer Evolution

The 2008 Lancer Evolution was designed by John Violette. In 2015 it was a Super Treasure Hunt. We have seen many different designs on this car and it is commonly used with the Color Shifters line up.

Nissan 300ZX Twin Turbo

The Nissan 300ZX Twin Turbo was designed by Dmitriy Shakhmatov in 2019. It made it’s debut in a pearl white color and quickly became a hit with collectors.

The 300ZX was a Super Treasure Hunt in 2021 in a spectraflame blue color. It was also a Walmart Zamac that year and was a premium in the Car Culture Modern Classics Mix. I’m sure we will see a lot more of this car.

Subaru Impreza WRX

This Subaru was designed in 2005 and is based on the actual 2004 Impreza WRC.

The last time we saw this car was in 2019, so it’s been a while.

Toyota AE-86 Corolla

This Corolla was designed in 2006 by Jun Imai and it was one of his first Hot Wheels designs.

This car is starting to make a comeback. We haven’t seen it until it was in the 2020 Olympics car mix.

**Regarding Cost – Typically these cost a little over $2 at Walmart, so for 6 cars at this price, it comes out to be about the same and with Prime, you get free shipping.

Also, expect many more boxed sets as Hot Wheels is doing this for retailers such as Amazon. It is probably because it is easier to sell on Amazon as a sealed set.
